Cardiovascular and Lymphatic Systems

TermDefinition
Cardiovascular system Circulates blood through the body's tissue
Lymphatic system Returns fluids from tissues to the cardiovascular system. Plasma leaves blood capillaries to become interstitial fluid
Systemic infections Microbes that have successfully invaded the body to have access to all parts
Sepsis The body's extreme response to an infection due to the spread of microbes
Septicemia Acute illness due to the presence of pathogens
Septic shock Life threatening condition caused by septicemia
