CHANGING LANDFORMS

TermDefinition
Valley a landform shaped like a V that is often located between two hills or mountains.
Erosion is when rock, soil or sand is worn dawn and moved from one place to another.
Pumice rock forms during a volcanic eruptions.
Diagram is an illustration that shows how something works or what its parts are. Can be a type of model.
Model is something scientists make to help answer questions about the real world. They help simplify things.
Landforms seem... they seem stable which makes it hard to visualize water changing them.
TO KNOW Chalk is similar to the real world because it is hard like rock
Water is very powerful as a liquid or solid. It is more powerful than any landform.
TO KNOW scientists make diagrams based on evidence from investigations, models, and books to share their ideas
TO KNOW when we investigate why the cliff has changed, we are acting like geologist.
TO KNOW the shape of landform changes when water causes pieces of rock to BREAK OFF and EROSION causes water to wash away land.
TO KNOW when scientists can't observe a situation because it happens over time, they VISUALIZE what may happen.
TO KNOW The shape of a landform changes when water hits it & causes pieces of rock to break off. Water hitting a landform causes tiny pieces of the landform to break off.
