Science Chapter 11 Vocabulary

atmosphere a mixture of gases that surrounds the earth.
troposphere lowest, densest layer of the atmosphere.
stratosphere the second layer of the atmosphere
ozone a three-atom form of oxygen
mesosphere the middle layer of the atmoshere
thermosphere the uppermost layer of the atmosphere
exosphere the upper region of the thermosphere extending toward outer spavce
humidity the amount of water vapor in the air
cloud a visible mass of condensed water vapor in the atmosphere
pressure the force extended on a given area
air pressure the force exterted by air molecules on a given area
barometer an instrument used to measure air pressure
climate patter of weather an area has over a long period of time
