TermDefinition
television A device that shows programs, movies, or news using pictures and sound sent from far away.
telecast A program or event that is broadcast on television.
telegraph An old system that sends messages over wires using electrical signals (like Morse code).
telegram A message that was sent using a telegraph system.
telephoto A type of camera lens that lets you take clear pictures of things that are far away.
telephone A device used to talk to someone far away using sound sent through wires or signals.
phonics A way of learning to read by connecting letters with the sounds they make.
headphone A pair of speakers worn over or in your ears so you can listen to sound privately.
homophone Words that sound the same but have different meanings or spellings (like their and there).
microphone A device that picks up sound and makes it louder or records it.
xylophone A musical instrument made of wooden bars that are struck with mallets to make sounds.
symphony A long piece of music played by a large group of musicians called an orchestra.
photograph A picture taken with a camera.
photocopier A machine that makes paper copies of documents or pictures.
photosynthesis The process plants use to make food from sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide.
photographer A person who takes pictures using a camera.
photogenic Looking good or natural in photographs.
phonograph An old machine used to play recorded sound from records.
graphic A picture, drawing, or visual image used to show information.
graphite A soft, dark form of carbon used inside pencils for writing.
paragraph A group of sentences about one main idea.
autograph A person’s signature, especially from someone famous.
choreography The planned steps and movements in a dance.
calligraphy Decorative or artistic handwriting.
