cultural diverstiy a variety of cultures in an area
famine an extreme, widespread shortage of food, often resulting in much suffering, illness, and death
immigrant a person who moves from one country to live in another country
immigrate to move to a foreign country and take up residence there
industrialization the changes in manufacturing, transportation, and everyday life brought about by the widespread use of increasingly advanced machines
migration the movement of people or animals from one place to another
population the number of people living in an area
pull factor a reason to move to a new location
push factor a reason to leave a place
