The Odd/Eccentric category; features social detachment and peculiar defensive styles. Cluster A
Pervasive distrust and suspiciousness; hypervigilant; believes favors are "done for a wrong reason." Paranoid PD
Pattern of detachment from social relationships; "loners" with blunted/flat affect; indifferent to praise. Schizoid PD
Acute discomfort in close relationships plus cognitive distortions (magical thinking, ESP, "Sixth Sense"). Schizotypal PD
Characterized by impulsivity, lack of empathy, and inability to delay gratification. Cluster B
Disregard for rights of others before age 18; high prison population; manipulative and lacks remorse. antisocial PD
Instability in mood/self-image; uses "splitting" (all good/bad); fear of abandonment vs. engulfment. borderline PD
Attention-seeking and melodramatic; seductive; over-invested in physical appearance; fear of aging. histrionic PD
Grandiosity and need for admiration; lacks empathy; sensitive to criticism; common in surgeons/politicians. narcissistic PD
General social/occupational impairment due to restricted affect and non-assertiveness. cluster c
Desires acceptance but withdraws due to fear of rejection; hypersensitive; painfully shy. avoidant PD
Submissive and clinging; views self as "helpless/stupid"; seeks others to assume responsibility. dependent PD
Preoccupation with orderliness and perfectionism; formal/serious; lack of humor. OCPD
Hostility expressed through procrastination, stubbornness, and intentional inefficiency. passive-aggressive
Rapidly changing moods (buoyancy vs. gloom) lasting a week or more; common in creative people. cyclothymic personality
Infinite sadness/morose; views pleasure as a sin; uses misery to gain love/attention. depressive personality
