| Hydrosphere | the system on Earth that contains all of the liquid and frozen water on Earth's surface as well as groundwater below the surface and water vapor in the atmosphere |
| Groundwater | in a watershed, water that seeps through the ground and is stored below the Earth's surface |
| Surface Water | in a watershed, natural water that is at the surface or has not penetrated much below the surface of the ground; drainage water |
| Watershed | An area surrounded by higher land, where all the water, both on the surface and underground, flows towards a specific river, lake, or other body of water |
| Dependence | the quality or state of being influenced or determined by or subject to something or someone else; reliance on something or someone else for support |
| Ocean System | comprised of abiotic and biotic factors that include currents, marine life, ocean floor geography, waves, and the movement of sediment and heat |
