| Coriolis effect | makes things (like planes or currents of air) traveling long distances around the Earth appear to move at a curve as opposed to a straight line. |
| convection | a vertical transport of heat and moisture in the atmosphere, especially by updrafts and downdrafts in an unstable atmosphere |
| transpiration | the process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers. |
| condensation | the process of gaseous water (water vapor) turning into liquid water. |
| deposition | the laying down of sediment carried by wind, flowing water, the sea or ice |
| evaporation | the process of turning from liquid into vapor. |
| sublimation | transition from solid to gas without passing through the liquid phase, often with formation of a solid deposit again on cooling. |
| precipitation | rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. |
| run off | the draining away of water (or substances carried in it) from the surface of an area of land, a building or structure, etc. |
