cliff dweller a person who lives on a rock ledge or cliff wall, such as a member of the Ancestral Pueblo people
adobe a type of brick made from sun-dried clay
mound a large, rounded pile
shaman a Native American leader who is believed to have special powers
petroglyphs rock carvings made by pecking directly on the rock and used by ancient people to tell stories, mark special places, record events, or represent spiritual beliefs
