DAW codes
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| DAW 0 | used when a doctor writes a DAW on the Rx, this means the pharmacy MUST fill the prescription for the EXACT product the doctor prescribed regardless of what the customer wants |
| DAW 1 | used when the patient requests the brand name product if there is a generic available |
| DAW 2 | used when a prescription being filled with a generic medication OR a brand name drug that has NO GENERIC AVAILABLE |
| DAW 3 | used when the pharmacist selected the brand |
| DAW 4 | used when the generic is not in stock |
| DAW 5 | used when the brand name the brand name is dispensed at the generic price |
| DAW 6 | used when N/A- override |
| DAW 7 | used when a subsitution is not allowed; brand name is mandated by law |
| DAW 8 | used when a generic is not available |
