Wave properties

TermDefinition
Wave A distubance that tranfes energy from place to place
Mechanical wave A wave that requires a medium through which to travel
Medium The material through which wave travels
Electromagnetic radiation The energy transferred through space by electromagnetic waves
Transverse wave A wave that moves the medlium at right angles to the direction in which the wave travels
Am plitude The height of a transverse wave from the center to a crest or trough
Longitudinalinal wave A wave that moves the medium in a direction parllel to the direction in which the wave travels
Wavele night The distance between two corresponding parts of a wave such as the distance between two crests
