Argument and Claim

Argument a. : the act or process of arguing, reasoning, or discussing : argumentation. b. : a coherent series of reasons, statements, or facts intended to support or establish a point of view.
Claim the main argument of an essay
evidence anything that can be used to prove something
counterclaim the opposing claim or the opposite of the writer's position.
rebuttal evidence or arguments introduced to counter, disprove, or contradict the opposing party's evidence or argument, either at trial or in a reply brief.
ethos ethos (credibility)
logos logos (proof)
pathos pathos (emotions).
credible capable of being believed; believable
