| Mutilate | inflict a severe and disfiguring injury on (a person or part of the body). |
| Anguished | severely afflicted with pain, distress, or grief; tormented. |
| Sparse | Thinly scattered or not dense; having few things in a large area. |
| Skeptically | in a skeptical manner; with doubt or hesitation. |
| Subside | to become less intense, violent, or severe (like a storm or pain), or to sink or settle to a lower level (like floodwaters or the ground). |
| Invigorating | making one feel strong, healthy, and full of energy. |
| Lingered | to stay in a place longer than expected, often due to reluctance to leave, to delay, or to pass time slowly. |
| Unendurable | too intense, painful, or unpleasant to bear or tolerate. |
| Isolation | the state of being separated, set apart, or alone, away from other people, objects, or surroundings. |
| Deliberately | doing something on purpose, intentionally, or with careful, slow consideration rather than by accident. |
| Rigid | stiff, firm, and unable to bend or change shape easily. |
| Contorted | twisted, bent, or forced into an unnatural, misshapen, or distorted form. |
| Imploring | to beg, plead, or ask someone for something in a very serious, emotional, or urgent manner. |
| Parched | extremely dry due to intense heat, lack of water, or sun exposure. |
| Grotesque | describes something, such as a figure or image, that is fantastically ugly, bizarre, or unnaturally distorted, often blending human, animal, and foliage forms. |
| Ecstatic | feeling or showing overwhelming happiness, intense excitement, or rapturous delight. |
| Solitude | the state of being alone, often by choice, and typically viewed as a positive or peaceful experience for reflection, creativity, or rest. |
| Pervade | to spread throughout every part of something, filling it completely. |
| Obsolete | something is no longer in use, produced, or needed because it is outdated and has been replaced by something newer, better, or more efficient. |
| Optimistic | having a positive, hopeful outlook, expecting the best possible outcome or good things to happen in the future. |
