water cycle 26

TermDefinition
Coriolis effect wind moves from area of high pressure to area of low pressure
convection current this cycle patterns of cycle caused by density different
runoff water from rain, snow melt, or irrigation that does not soak into the ground but instead flows over the land surface.
transportation the process where plants absorb liquid water through their roots and release it as water vapor into the atmosphere through tiny pores (stomata) in their leaves
evaporation the process where solar energy heats liquid water from oceans, lakes, and rivers, turning it into water vapor (a gas) that rises into the atmosphere
sublimation the process where ice or snow turns directly into water vapor (gas) without melting into liquid water first.
deposition the direct phase change of water vapor (gas) into ice (solid) without becoming liquid water first.
precipitation the stage in the water cycle where water falls from clouds back to Earth's surface as liquid or solid
condensation the process where water vapor (gas) in the atmosphere cools and changes back into liquid water droplets
surface currents vs deep currents surface currents are created by wind: deep currents are created density differens
