What was "Long Walk"? A brutal 300 mile march
What does it mean tp assimilate? To give up traditional ways and adopt other cultural norms and roles.
What led to greater conflict between native Americans and Settlers? Westward expansion over the Great Plains.
How long did it take to complete the Transcontinental Railroad? 7 Years
How did the Transcontinental Railroad speed up westward expansion? Allowed for people and supplies to travel west faster.
What authorized the Building of the Transcontinental Railroad? The Pacific Railway Act
Why was the completion of the Railroad a symbol of national unity? The civil war had just ended and this showed signs of hope.
What did the Homestead Act do? Gave government owned land to small farmers.
What was the goal of the Morrill Act? To build up Agriculture and Engineering schooling
What is an exoduster? African Americans who made a mass exodus from the south.
Dry farming is what? Farming crops that are not as water dependent.
What was the national Grange? Was a social and educational organization fro farmers.
What did Crazy Horse want to protect? His and his peoples way of life (Culture)
Why did many Native American groups stop resisting removal to reserves? They recognized they were out numbered and also were running outo of supplies needed for survival.
