repaglinide and nateglinide - NC before meals, hold if meal is skipped, DONT give with gemfibrozil
pioglitazone and rosiflitazone - SE hypoglycemia with sulfonylurea, muscle weakness/pain, sore throat, UTI
pioglitazone and rosiflitazone - NC DONT give with gemifibrozil, decrease effects of oral contraceptives, CANT give during pregnancy
acarbose - SE flatulence, cramps, abdominal distension, diarrhea
acarbose - NC DONT use with pt with GI problems, need to use glucose tablets to correct hypoglycemia
depagliflozin, canaglitflozin, empagliflozin - SE hypotension, yeast infection, UTI, polyuria, weight loss, kidney damage
depagliflozin, canaglitflozin, empagliflozin - NC can help decrease weight, once a day dose
pramlintide - SE (non-insulin injectable) GI disturbances, can delay absorption of other drugs
pramlintide - NC (non-insulin injectable) give at mealtimes with insulin, DONT mix in the same syringe
exenatide - SE (non-insulin injectable) hypoglycemia if taken with sulonylurea, GI disturbances
exenatide - NC (non-insulin injectable) give 1 hour before meals, used with metformin or sulfonylurea, once weekly injections
liraglutide - SE (non-insulin injectable) GI disturbances, icnreased risk for pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, and renal failure
glucagon and hydrochloride - SE hyperglyceia, BP changes, tachycardia, GI disturbances (place them on side)
glucagon and hydrochloride - NC monitor for hyperglycemia, educate on how to admin
short duration - rapid - meds lispro, aspart, and gluisine
short duration - rapid - action must go with long or int. insulin, controls after meal rise in BG
short duration - rapid - times onset - 10min-30min peak - 30min-3hr duration - 3hr-6hr
short duration - rapid - NC give WITH meals, clear, SQ or IV, can be used on sliding scale

long - NC determir once/twice daily SQ, can NOT be mixed with other insulin, clear, (glargine) once SQ (usually HS)
