Dynasty A line of rulers from the same family
Great wall of china Built to keep northern invaders from attacking China.
Rosseta stone Founded by a French army, this stone was the key to decoding Egyptian hieroglyphs
Linguist Someone who studies foreign language.
Egyptian Pyramids Triangular shaped structures that held the pharaoh's treasures for the afterlife.
Empire A group of territories or nations under a single ruler or government.
Golden Age Refers to the best (most prosperous) times of a civilization.
Sanskrit Language created by the Gupta Empire
Astronamy The study of the stars and planets.
Malady (maladies) Disease or sickness
Gupta empire Many successes during this time period in ancient India because it was a time of peace.
Mauyra Empire Contribute the first roads, bridges and postal system.
Mythology Stories about supernatural beings in early times, passed down from generation to generation.
Trojan war Story is written by a Greek poet, Homer, which tells the tale of the ancient Greeks rescuing a princess. It inspired the ancient Greeks.
Epic A long narrative poem.
Roman Colosseum Place in Rome where Gladiator fights were held.
Gladiators In ancient Rome, people fought animals and other people as public entertainment.
Assyrians Warriors of the ancient world (Mesopotamia) that focused on war, conquest and gaining knowledge rather than farming and trading.
Cuneiform Wedge shaped writing in Mesopotamia. Those who could write and read it were scribes.
