| respiratory membrane | 1 layer (alveolus) + 1 layers (capillary) |
| Alveolus | high oxygen from atmosphere |
| capillary | low oxygen blood from heart arrives @ lungs; has high CO2 from heart arrives @ lungs |
| boyle's law | the pressure of a given quantity of gas is inversely proportional to its volume |
| dalton's law | total pressure of a mixture of gasses is equal to the sum of the pressure of individual gasses |
| henry's law | ^ solubility ^ pressure |
| bronchioles | Chnage in diameter; regulate ventilation, regulate air delivery to alveoli |
| bronchoconstrict | decrease ventilation |
| bronchodilate | increase ventilation |
| perfusion | blood delivery to tissue (alveoli) -regulate blood in capillaries arterioles vasoconstrict= decrease perfusion vasodilate= increase perfusion |
| ventilation | movement of air in & out regulated by bronchioles |
| exhale respiration | gas exchange @ lungs/alveoli oxygen to blood CO2 to atmosphere |
| internal respiration | gas exchange @ tissues oxygen to tissues CO2 to blood |
