4. How does Huck change when Tom comes? Huck loses the ability to act on his own, and lets Tom take over everything.

6. What more do we learn about Tom in these chapters? Tom is much more immature than Huck. Also that Tom cares more about fantasy than reality.
1. How does Huck appear to be superior to Tom? his greater maturity, practical common sense, and profound moral growth
2. What happens to Jim? Huck? Tom? Jim gives up his freedom to help nurse Tom back to health, and is taken back to the plantation in chains. Upon waking up, Tom admits that he knew Jim was free the whole time, and Jim is released. Tom pays Jim 40 dollars, and the trio departs.
