| Term | Definition |

| Molten | Means "melted into a hot liquid by high heat." Comes out of volcanoes is called lava. Lava is created by the heat deep inside the Earth. |
| Plume | A tall, spreading cloud of smoke or ash that ruses into the air. You might see a dark plume of smoke above a fire. |
| Roiling | To move or stir up violently. River water may do this after a storm. |
| Searing | To burn or scorch the surface of something quickly with intense heat |
| Broad | Wide; covering a large area. |
| Potential | The possibility or ability for something to happen in the future. |
| Forfeit | To lose or give up something as a result of a mistake or rule. |
| Authentic | Real or genuine; not fake. |
| Precision | Great accuracy and careful detail. |
| Linger | To stay in a place longer than expected. |
