Allusion An expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly
antonym a word that has the exact opposite meaning of another word
synonym A word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase
interrogative words, phrases, or sentences that ask a question or convey a request for information
indicative Serving as a sign or indication of something
subjunctive Relating to or denoting a mood of verbs expressing what is imagined or wished
imperative Vital, important, crucial
conditional Subject to one or more conditions or requirements being met
stanza A group of lines forming the basic recurring metrical unit in a poem
transition/transitional phrase Words or phrases that show the relationship between ideas
dialouge Conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or movie
ellipsis The omission from speech or writing of a word or words that are superfluous or able to be understood from contextual clues
maintain focus Special importance, value, or prominence given to something
acknowledgment an opposing viewpoint validating a perspective that contradicts your own
concise/precise Giving a lot of information clearly and in a few words; brief but comprehensive
convey meaning The quality of being coherent and intelligible
active vs. passive voice Subject performs action vs. subject receives action
