linear function a function whose graph is a non-vertical line; it contains a constant rate of change
mapping diagram a way to represent a relation
nonlinear function a function that does not have a constant rate of change; a function whose graph is not a line
output in a relation, they are the values associated with inputs
perfect square a number with integers as its square roots
Pythagorean Theorem in any right triangle, the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse; a^2 + b^2 = c^2
