| Aggression | Behavior that intentionally causes others harm or that elicits escape or avoidance responses from others. |
| Enuresis | Urinary incontinence; wetting oneself |
| Encopresis | Bowel incontinence; soiling oneself |
| Zero Tolerance | School policy, supported by federal and state laws, that certain things will be punished regardless of any excuse. |
| Manifestation Determination | Determination that a student's misbehavior is or is not a manifestation of a disability. |
| Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) | Evaluation that consists of finding out the consequences and setting events that maintain appropriate behaviors. |
| Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) | Creation of proactive and positive interventions and avoiding punishments. |
| Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) | Systematic use of the science behavior to find ways of supporting desirable behavior rather than punishing undesirable behavior; positive reinforcement procedures that are intended to support a student's appropriate or desirable behavior. |
| Interim Alternative Educational Setting (IAES) | Temporary placement outside general education for students whose behavior is extremely problematic, but in which their education is continued. |
| Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (EBD) | -Behavior that goes to the extreme -A problem that is chronic -Behavior that is unacceptable because of social or cultural expectations |
| Externalizing Behavior | Striking out against others. |
| Internalizing Behavior | Mental or emotional conflicts. |
| Comorbidity | Co-occurrence of two or more conditions in the same individual. |
| Schizophrenia | Severe disorder of thinking. May have delusions or hallucinations. Emotions are typically inappropriate for actual circumstances and tend to withdraw into their own private worlds. |
