Blood born pathogens in the blood. pathogenic microorganisms that are present n human blood and can cause disease in humans. these pathogens include, but not limited to. hep b virus and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
Burnout exhaustion
Critical incident stress management (CISM) a process that addresses response to critical incidents and helps defuse them, guiding emergency services personel toward physical and emotional equilibrium
Distress a negative response to a stressor
Eustress beneficial response to a stressor - stress reliever
Exposure when a person has had contact with blood, body fluids, tissues, or airborne particles in a manner that suggests disease transmission may occur
Hepatitis Inflammation of the liver, usually caused by a viral infection, that causes fever, loss of appetite, jaundice, fatigue, and altered liver function
Human immunodeficiency virus (Hiv) Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by HIV, which damages the cells in the bodys immune system so that the body is unable to fight infection or certian cancers.
Immune The bodys ability to protect itself from acquiring a disease
Infection the abnormal invasion of a host - by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, or parasites, with ot without signs or symptoms of disease
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Osha) they run everything. federal regulatory compliance agency that develops, publishes, and enforces guidelines concerning safety in the workplace.
Pathogen microrganism that is capable of causing a disease. most of them need a host. whose the host? humans.
PPE Personal protective equipment that blocks exposure to a pathogen or a hazardous material
PTSD Post (after) traumatic (stuff you seen/been through) stress disorder . a delayed stress reaction to a prior incident.
BSI Body substance isolation
Standard precaution/unviersal precautions act as if everyone has the worst of the worst. for ex AIDS. Protective measures that the CDC has traditionally developed for use in dealing with objects, blood, body fluids, and other potential exposure risks od communicable diseases.
Transmission how it spreads. the way in which an infectious disease is spread: contact, airborne, by vehicles, or by vectors.
communicable disease a disease that can be from one person to another
cumulative stress response a disease that can be spread from one person or species to another. something that spreads, ex covid, hepitatis, tb.
