Describe the Montgomery Bus Boycott: Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat so she got arrested.This sparked the bus boycott.Which was when people refused to ride the bus so they carpooled,walked,etc.
How did Martin Luther King Jr. think the Civil Rights Movement would eventually be won? MLK Jr. believed in nonviolent peaceful speeches,protests,sit ins, etc.
Who signed the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act? Lyndon B. Johnson.
What did the Civil Rights Act of 1964 do? Segregation in all public places was illegal.
Describe the Brown vs. Board of Education: -Browns won and ended segregation -Thurgood Marshall represented the Browns -Their daughter Linda had to bused to school instead of going to the school across the street
Voting Rights Act: -The literacy test was no longer a requirement to vote
Civil Rights Act: -Johnson signed it -Ended segregation in all public places
Thurgood Marshall: -first black supreme court justice -Lawyer who won Brown vs. BOE
Lyndon B. Johnson: -signed the Civil Rights Act into law -signed the Voting Rights Act into law
Jim Crow Laws: -Jim Crow Laws in the south -Segregation was "okay" because it was separate but equal
24th Amendment: -Cant make people pay the poll tax in order to vote
