What is Guided Transmission Media (GTM)? The medium in which we transport data.
What are the different types of GTM? Persistent storage, twisted pairs, coaxial cable, fiber optics, and power lines.
Which GTM offers essentially infinite bandwidth, promoting long-haul transmissions, and high-speed internet access and LANs. Fiber Optics
What are the key components of fiber optics? Light source (LED/Laser), Transmission medium, and detector.
Which light source is 8 - 10 micrometers thick? Single-Mode Lasers
What is one reason it's important to have a precise angle of incidence? Because fiber only works when light enters the core at an angle of total internal reflection.
What is numerical aperture? The range of angles that determines how much light a fiber can accept.
What does attenuation mean? Loss in energy due to leakage.
