| What are cells? | The smallest unit of life. |
| What does it mean to grow? | To get larger. |
| What is responding to the environment? | Using your senses to react to something. Ex: Wearing a jacket if it is cold outside. Ex: Feeling something is too hot and moving your hand away from it. |
| How do living things get energy? | Animals need to eat other organisms to gain energy. Plants get their energy from the sun by the process of photosynthesis. |
| What is waste? | All living things produce waste such as going to the bathroom, sweating, and breathing. |
| What is an organism? | A living thing. |
