QuestionAnswer
Emotionally disturbed This is still the term used in the individuals with disabilities education act.
Schizophrenia This is a severe disorder of thinking, not a mild one. They might believe that they are controlled by alien forces or might have other delusions or hallucinations.
Externalizing behavior Involves striking out against others.
Internalizing behavior Involves mental or emotional conflict, such as depression and anxiety.
Aggressive acting out behavior Conduct disorder is the most common problem exhibited by students with emotional or behavioral disorders
Immature, withdrawn behavior and depression In noting the seriousness of aggressive, acting out behavior, we don't intend to downplay the disabling nature of immaturity and withdrawal or depression
Zero tolerance Teachers struggled to balance the rights of students with disabilities against the common go of maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
Manifestation determination Deciding whether a students misbehavior is manifestation of disability.
Functional behavioral assessment In behavioral science, the function of someone's behavior is the reason they do it. FBA assist educators and determining and altering the factors that account for a students misconduct
Behavioral intervention plan The emphasis of this requirement is on creating proactive and positive interventions and avoiding punishment.
Positive behavioral intervention and support It integrates valued outcomes, the science of human behavior, validated procedures, and systems changed to enhance quality of life and reduce problems behavior.
Interim educational setting The discipline of student with disability who cannot be managed satisfactorily in the general education classroom or school.
Timeout Involves immediately removing a child from the environment and which the child has misbehaved temporarily to an environment that is unstimulated and boring.
