Mechanical waves The waves you just investigated transferred energy from one place to another without transferring any matter
Transverse waves Two types of mechanical waves are transverse waves and longitudinal waves.
Longitudinal waves you created Longitudinal waves in step 5 if the Lab making waves.

Amplitude The amplitude of a wave is the maximum distance that the wave moves from its rest position.

Wavelength You measured transverse waves from one crest to the next one from trough to the next in the Lab Ride the Wave.
Frequency The frequency of a wave is the number of times the pattern repeats in a given time.
