TermDefinition
Uterus (Hyster/o, metr/o) The muscular organ where a fetus develops.
Ovaries Oophor/o) The organs that produce eggs (ova) and hormones
Fallopian Tubes (Salping/o Tubes through which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus.
Cervix: The lower, narrow part of the uterus that opens into the vagina
Vulva: The external female genitalia.
Endometrium The inner lining of the uterus
Follicle: A sac in the ovary containing an egg.
Ovulation The release of a mature egg from the ovary.
Menstruation (Men/o) The monthly shedding of the uterine lining.
Gestation The period of development in the womb from conception to birth (pregnancy).
. Dysmenorrhea Painful menstruation.
Amenorrhea The absence of menstruation.
Dyspareunia Painful sexual intercourse.
Infertility The inability to conceive or maintain a pregnancy.
