Gynecology Gynec/o = woman -logy = study of Gynecology is the study of the female reproductive system and its medical conditions.
Gynecologist Gynec/o = woman -logist = specialist A gynecologist is a physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the female reproductive system.
Endometriosis Endo- = inside Metri/o = uterus -osis = abnormal condition Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
Amniocentesis Amni/o = amnion (amniotic sac) -centesis = surgical puncture Amniocentesis is a procedure in which a needle is inserted into the amniotic sac to withdraw fluid for testing.
Dysmenorrhea Dys- = painful Men/o = month (menstruation) -rrhea = flow Dysmenorrhea means painful menstrual flow.
