What were the major barriers to territorial expansion? Rocky Mountains and the Cascade Mountains.

Who did Thomas Jefferson send to explore it? Lewis and Clark
What did the Louisiana Purchase do to the U.S.? It doubled the size.
What location of the Mississippi River did they start? St. Louis
What was the original goal of the expedition? To make a water route to the Pacific Ocean.
What was the last physical feature they faced before reaching the Pacific Ocean? The Rocky Mountains.
Who assisted them on their journey? Sacajawea
What was her contribution for the journey? Interpreter/Translator
What are some things they encountered on their journey? Animals native Americans new plants etc.
In the War Of 1812 who was involved? The British, American Indians, France, U.S.A.
What were the causes? Impressment, (British Navy forcing U.S. people to work on their side.) British supplied guns to the American Indians, War Hawks pushed congress to decare war against Britain.
What major even took place in Washington DC? Burning of the White House and the capital.
Which country did US acquire Texas? Mexico
What was the Alamo? It is a church used as a fort at the Alamo.
What was the purpose of the Alamo? Texas wanted independence.
