Who did he hire to explore it? Lewis and Clark.
What did it do to the size of the U.S? Doubles the size.
What location of the Mississippi river did they start their expedition? Missouri river.
What was their original goal of the expedition? Find a water route to the Pacific Ocean.
What was the last physical feature that they crossed before reaching the Pacific Ocean? Rocky Mountains.
Who assisted them on their journey? Sacagawea.
What was her contribution to the journey? She translated.
What were a few things that they encountered on their journey? Native Americans, Grizzly Bears, and Plants.
Who was involved? Britian and America.
What were the causes? Native Americans were forced to work on British ships and Americans allies with Britain.
What major even took place in Washington DC? White house and the big push by war hawks.
Which country did US acquire Texas? Mexico.
What was the alamo? Church used as effort at the battle of the alamo.
What was the purpose of the battle of alamo? Texas wanted independence.
What was the Oregon trail? Well known trail that pioneers used to travel west to the Pacific Ocean.
What led many settlers to the west? Wanted more land and space also wanted gold.
What was the gold rush? People looking for gold in California to be rich.
What types of towns popped up in California due to people searching for gold? The mining town and Boom town.
What was lifelike for people who were looking for gold? Harsh and hard because there were few supplies and expensive food.
What was the trail of tears? Relocation of Native Americans to reservation in Oklahoma thousands died.
Who was impacted the worst by westward expansion? Native Americans.
Why did so many Native Americans die on the journey to their new reservations? Disease, starvation, bad weather, and extreme conditions.
