Arterioles small branches of arteries that lead to capillaries.

Venules small vessels that collect blood from capillaries and lead to veins.
Veins blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart.
Valves flaps that prevent blood from flowing backward.
Histology the study of tissues under a microscope.
Tunica Externa the outer layer of a blood vessel that provides protection and support.
Tunica Media the middle muscular layer of a blood vessel that controls diameter.
Tunica Interna the smooth inner lining of a blood vessel.
Lumen the hollow inside space of a blood vessel.
Pulmonary Circulation blood flow between the heart and lungs.
Systemic Circulation blood flow between the heart and the rest of the body.
Right Atrium upper right chamber that receives deoxygenated blood from the body.
Tricuspid Valve valve between the right atrium and right ventricle.
Right Ventricle lower right chamber that pumps blood to the lungs.
Pulmonary Semilunar (Pulmonic) Valve valve between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery.
Pulmonary Artery carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
Pulmonary Veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium.
Left Atrium upper left chamber that receives oxygenated blood from the lungs.
Bicuspid (Mitral) Valve valve between the left atrium and left ventricle.
Left Ventricle lower left chamber that pumps oxygenated blood to the body.
Aortic Semilunar (Aortic) Valve valve between the left ventricle and aorta.
Aorta the largest artery that carries blood from the heart to the body.
Chordae Tendineae string-like cords that anchor AV valves to papillary muscles.
Septum the wall that separates the right and left sides of the heart.
Trabeculae Carneae irregular muscular ridges inside the ventricles.
Papillary Muscles muscles that tighten chordae tendineae to prevent valve prolapse.
Apex the pointed bottom tip of the heart.
Base the broad top portion of the heart where major vessels attach.
Left Coronary Artery (Left Main) main artery supplying the left side of the heart muscle.
Left Anterior Descending (LAD) Coronary Artery branch supplying the front of the left ventricle.
Circumflex Artery branch supplying the side and back of the left ventricle.
Right Coronary Artery (RCA) artery supplying the right side of the heart.
Carotid Artery supplies oxygenated blood to the head and brain.
Descending Aorta portion of the aorta that runs down through the chest and abdomen.
Subclavian Artery supplies blood to the arms and upper chest.
Brachiocephalic Trunk first branch of the aortic arch supplying the right arm and head.
Axillary Artery continuation of the subclavian artery in the armpit.
Brachial Artery main artery of the upper arm.
Radial Artery artery on the thumb side of the forearm (pulse site).
Ulnar Artery artery on the pinky side of the forearm.
Iliac Artery branch of the aorta supplying the pelvis and legs.
Femoral Artery main artery of the thigh.
Popliteal Artery artery behind the knee.
Dorsalis Pedis (DP) artery on the top of the foot.
Posterior Tibial (PT) artery behind the ankle supplying the foot.
Jugular Vein drains blood from the head and neck.
Brachiocephalic Vein formed by the jugular and subclavian veins, returns blood to the heart.
Subclavian Vein drains blood from the arm.
Axillary Vein drains blood from the armpit and upper arm.
Greater Cephalic Vein superficial vein on the thumb side of the arm.
Median Cubital Vein vein in the elbow commonly used for blood draws.
Basilic Vein superficial vein on the pinky side of the arm.
Iliac Vein drains blood from the pelvis and legs to the inferior vena cava.
Femoral Vein main vein of the thigh.
Popliteal Vein vein behind the knee.
Greater Saphenous Vein longest superficial vein running along the inner leg.
