QuestionAnswer
Conduct disorder a common problem among students with emotional or behavioral disorders
Externalizing behavior actions where individuals act out against others
Internalizing behavior mental or emotional conflicts that are directed inward
Comorbidity the co-occurrence of two or more conditions in the same individual
Schizophrenia a severe mental disorder characterized by disruptions in thinking, perception, and emotional responsiveness
Aggression a complex behavior that has been studied from various perspectives
Enuresis urinary incontinence, commonly known as bed-wetting
Encopresis a condition characterized by bowel incontinence, where an individual, often a child, involuntarily soils themselves
Zero tolerance strict enforcement rules that apply predetermined consequences, often severe, for specific offenses without considering the context or individual circumstances
Manifestation determination a process used in special education to decide if a student's misbehavior is directly related to their disability
Functional behavioral assessment a systematic process used to understand the reasons behind a student's inappropriate behaviors, particularly for those with emotional or behavioral disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other disabilities
Behavioral intervention plan a proactive strategy required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for students with disabilities who exhibit behavior problems
Positive behavioral intervention and support a proactive approach used in schools to improve student behavior through positive strategies rather than punishmen
Interim alternative educational setting a provision under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that allows schools to place students with disabilities in a different educational setting when their behavior cannot be managed in the general education classroom
Time-out a behavioral intervention strategy used in educational settings to manage and reduce problematic behaviors in students
