Booker T. Washington formerly enslaved African American man and scholar who founded Tuskegee University. He was an influential educator and speaker of his time. He served as an advisor to two U.S. presidents.
Alexander Graham Bell a Scottishborn American inventor and businessman credited with inventing the telephone, the metal detector, and the graphophone.
Thomas Edison a businessman and inventor. He patented over 1,000 inventions, including the phonograph and an electric system that supplied power to multiple light bulbs, motors, and appliances.
Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the United States. He was born in Kentucky in 1809. At age 7, Abraham and his family moved to Indiana. There Abraham did chores and read books.
Benjamin Banneker a free African American man whose father was previously enslaved. He was mostly a self-taught scholar who studied astronomy, math, and farming. He also helped survey the location of the District of Columbia.
