Angles
Angle relationship definitions
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Ray | Starts at one endpoint and continues in one direction |
| Vertex | The point which two rays share |
| Intersecting | Two lines that cross each other |
| Transversal | A line that intersects two or more lines at different points |
| Vertical Angle | Opposite angles formed by two intersecting lines. |
| Corresponding Angles | The angles are equal if the two other lines are parallel |
| Congruent | Angles that have the same measure |
| Adjacent Angles | Two angles that are next to each other and share a vertex |
| Complementary Angles | The sum of two angles' measures equal 90 degrees |
| Alternate Interior Angles | Two angles that lie between the two parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal |
| Alternate Exterior Angles | The angles that lie outside the two parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal |
| Supplementary Angles | The sum of two angles' measures equal 180 degrees |
| Congruent Angles | focus only on equal angle measures, regardless of their location |
| Corresponding Angles | describe specific angle pairs formed when a transversal crosses parallel lines, and they are congruent only when the lines are parallel.(If the lines are parallel, corresponding angles are congruent.) |
