| Machine | Something humans make to help do a job more easily. Example: A bicycle, scissors, or a toaster. |
| Machine simple | A basic tool that uses force to help us do work. Example: a ramp or a lever. |
| Machine complexe / composée | A machine made of two or more simple machines working together. Example: a wheelbarrow or a bicycle. |
| Levier | A bar that moves on a point. It helps lift things. Example: a seesaw. |
| Plan incliné (rampe) | A slanted surface that helps you move something up or down more easily. Example: a wheelchair ramp. |
| Coin | A tool with a sharp edge used to cut or split things. Example: the blade of an axe. |
| Roue et essieu | A wheel with a rod in the center. Turning one makes the other turn. Example: car wheels. |
| Vis | A tool with spiral lines that helps hold things together. Example: a screw in wood. |
| Poulie | A wheel with a rope used to lift things. Example: a bucket at a well. |
