| Addition property of inequality | If you add a number to both sides, those sides will stay the same. |
| Division property of inequality | If you divide each side by the same nonzero number, those sides will stay the same. |

| Multiplication property of inequality | When you multiply each side of an inequality by a negative number, the inequality symbol must be reversed for the inequality to remain true. |
| Subtraction property of equality | If you subtract the same number on each side of an inequality, the inequality will stay the same. |
