TermDefinition
Sound waves A wave that transfers energy through vibrating air or other matter
Vibration The back-and-forth motion of an object
Frequency The number of vibrations (waves) that sound makes each second
Pitch The high or low quality of a sound (high frequency= high pitch) (low frequency= low pitch)
Solar Meaning the sun, energy from the sun’s light is used to create electricity
Environment All the living and nonliving things in an area
Hydroelectricity Electricity produced from the energy of moving water
Wind energy Energy created using a windmill (windmills harness the motion of the wind to help turn machinery.)
Renewable resources A resource that can be replaced by nature quickly
Non-renewable resources A resource that cannot be replaced by nature quickly (examples; coal, oil, natural gas)
