QuestionAnswer
Inauguration A ceremony in which the President takes the Oath of office.
Precedent An example to be followed by others in the future.
Bond A certificate issued by a government for an amount of money that the government promises to pay back with interest.
Speculator People who invest in a risky venture in the hope of making a large profit.
Tarriff A tax on imported goods.
Faction An organized political group.
Unconstitutional Contrary to what is permitted by the Constitution
Alien An outsider or someone from another country,
Sedition An activity designed to overthrow a government.
Nullify To deprive of legal force.
George Washington The first president of the United States.
John Adams George Washington’s vice president who was nominated by the Federalists to be the 2nd president.
Alexander Hamilton He disliked factions and thought they would cause chaos and he led the Federalists. He is the Secretary of Treasury.
Thomas Jefferson He disliked factions and thought they would cause chaos and he led the Democratic-Republicans. Secretary of State.
James Madison He thought that factions were selfish groups and he argued against them. He wrote the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions.
