| revolution | The movement of an object around another object; its orbit |
| orbit | the path of one object in space around another object |
| phase | one of the shapes the moon seems to have as it orbits Earth |
| solar system | a star and all the other planets and other objects that revolve around it |
| planet | a large body that revolves around a star |
| comet | a ball of rock, ice, and frozen gases that revolves around the sun |
| star | a huge ball of super heated gases |
| moon | a natural body that revolves around a planet |
| sun | the star at the center of our solar system |
| Big Bang Theory | A theory in Science that the universe was created from a single explosion. |
| Geocentric Theory | Earth is the center of the Universe |
| Heliocentric Theory | Sun is the center of the universe |
| Fusion | Hydrogen atoms slam together to create helium atoms in the Sun |
| terrestrial planets | the four inner planets (made of rock and metal): Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars |
| Jovian Planets (Gas Giants) | outer planets (made of gas): Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune |
| Ellipse | A closed, "flattened" curve that is not circular |
| Gravity | A force that pulls objects toward the center |
| Mass | The amount of matter (or stuff) in an object |
| Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space |
