Matter(part 1)

QuestionAnswer
Solid- Phase of matter that has a definite shape and volume.
Liquid- Phase of matter that takes the shape of its container and has a definitevolume.
Gas- Phase of matter that has no definite shape or volume
Plasma - Phase of matter that can occur whan a gas becomes electricallly charged .
Atom- The basic building blocks of all matter
Element - A pure subsatnce that cannot be broken down by chemical or physical means.
Compound- A substance made of two or more elements chemically combined;represented by a chemical formula.
Mixture- Two or more substances that are together in the same place but their atoms are not chemically bonded.
Pure Substances: Matter that consists of only on type of atom,molecule,or compund.
Physical Property- A characteristic of a substance that can be observed without changing it into another substance.
Solubility- A measure of how well a subsatnce can dissolve into another substance.
Luster- Shine or lack oof shine,dullness.
Malleable- Property that allows metals to be made into sheets.
