DNA

TermDefinition
DNA The molecule that carries the genetic instructions for living things.
Nucleus The control center of the cell that contains the DNA.
Double helix The twisted ladder shape of DNA.
Gene A section of DNA that contains instructions for making a specific protein or trait.
Chromosome A tightly coiled structure made of DNA that is found in the nucleus of a cell.
Trait A characteristic or feature of an organism, such as eye color or height, that can be inherited.
Nucleotide The basic building block of DNA, made of a sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base.
Base Pair Two nitrogen bases that bond together in the middle of the DNA ladder
