Trigonometric Ratios

Vocabulary used to help understand trigonometric ratios.

Hypotenuse Longest side of right triangle opposite the right angle
Sine ratio of the opposite leg to the hypotenuse of a right triangle
Cosine ratio of the adjacent leg to the hypotenuse of a right triangle
Tangent ratio of the opposite leg to the adjacent leg of a right triangle
Right Triangle a polygon with one 90 degree angle comprised of two legs and a hypotenuse
Pythagorean Theorem a^2 + b^2 = c^2; used to find a missing side of a right triangle
