| how is calcitriol formed? | 7 dehydrocholesterol converts to cholecalciferol when exposed to UV radiation, cholecalciferol released to blood and modified in the liver and kidneys to form active vitamin D (calcitriol) |
| what type of people are calcitriol deficient? | people in cold climates & who cover there body outside (can be absorbed through intestinal wall) |
| what are sources of vitamin D? | dairy, liver, egg yolks, supplements |
| desceibe heat exchange in the skin when the body is too hot? | 1) arterioles in dermis dilate (allows warm blood to flow) 2) sweat is produced + evaporates 3) reducing body temp. |
