What is DNA? Made up of smaller molecules Looks like a twisted ladder or spiral staircase Carries the genetic code

Genetic Code the pattern of A's, T's, C's and G's that our body uses to make the proteins and molecules in our cells Every one of our cells is based on this pattern
How many chromosomes are found in a human? 46
How many pairs of chromosomes are found in humans? 23
What are nucleotides made of? Three parts: sugar, phosphate and one of the 4 nitrogen bases
What are the four nitrogen bases? Adenine, Gyanine, Adenine and Thyamine
What is the last pair of chromosomes for a human female? XX
What is the last pair chromosomes for the human male? XY
What happens during interphase? Cell grows and prepares for cell division At the end of this phase the DNA replication happens
