Compare the strengths and weaknesses of various research designs that social psychologists use. **
Compare and contrast the different approaches to social psychological research. **
Summarize how social psychologists ensure participant safety, while at the same time testing hypotheses about the causes of social behavior. **
Why do research? Helps us understand human behavior and helps us predict human behavior
Hindsight bias The tendency for people to exaggerate, after knowing that something occurred, how much they could have predicted it before it occurred - one reason we use the scientific method
Steps to doing research Scientific method allows for the systematic observation of measurable phenomena
Systematic follow set of rules to reduce errors & biases
Measurable can be verified
Hypothesize A prediction based on limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation - Everyday observations of world
