Social Studies

QuestionAnswer
Loyalist People in the American Colonies who wanted the colonies to remain under the control of the king and Great Britain. Loyalists were loyal to the king and opposed independence.
Patriot People in the American Colonies who wanted the colonies to break away from Great Britain. Such people favored independence for the colonies.
Neutralist American colonists who did not support either side (loyalists or patriots) in the fight for independence from Great Britain.
Independence freedom, especially from control by another country or government.
conflict a serious disagreement or argument
grievances a real or imagined wrong or other cause for complaint or protest, especially unfair treatment.
argument An exchange of opposite views, typically a heated or angry one.
Second Continental Congress A meeting of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that united in support of the American Revolutionary War. The Congress was creating a new country it first named "United Colonies" and in 1776 renamed "United States of America."
