TermDefinition
earthquake are the vibrations in the ground that result from the movement a long breaks in earth's lithosphere.
fault a break in the earth's lithosphere where one block of rocks move towards away from or past another.
seismic wave when rocks move along a fault they release energy that travels as vibrations on and in earth.
focus these waves originate where rocks first move along the fault at a location inside the earth called focus.
epicenterv the location on earth's surface directly above the earthquakes focus.
volcano a vent in earth's crust through which melted or molten rock flows.
hot spot volcanoes that are not associated with plate boundaries are called hot spots.
